Nice composition. You have used greyscale, but not its total spread. Some black would have done good in the character. The shapes in the Hades' clothing are good, but as they now are pretty strong by their contrast, they get slightly too big role.

This one is very nice. Good use of strokes. It's nice that you have had courage to stick with this one thickness of a stroke. Also it's nice how you have sort of created "optical grey" in the characters hair. That would have also worked well in the clothing, the character would have stepped out clearer.

Very good colors and nice magic ambience. Maybe emphasizing the most relevant elements more and vice versa, could have done good - for example the chest of the dog creature stands out too well.

Nice feeling here also! Good colors! Great light on the background where is also good looking digital painting (and also the lower part of the character). The character and especially the chair are probably a little bit too detailed. There could be less elements fighting for the attention.

All in all. A good set of illustrations! Good job.

    1. Hello,
My name is Kiki and I'm a year 13 in high school at the moment and I'm taking classics this year. I stumbled upon a painting of Hades in the under wold and I fell in love with it. I love the character of Hades and something about him really intrigues me and the painting was a visual representation on how I feel Hades would be.

I found it on google and decided that i needed to find out who painted it. I found your blog with an image of it and feedback on the piece, I'm really hoping that you are the artist. And if you'd allow me to, I love to ask what inspired you to portray Hades this way. I have a vague understanding but everything about that painting from his eyes to his posture is (to me) perfection and I can't fathom how you managed to create such a beautiful truthful picture. I'm just absolutely stunned by how encapsulating it is and would really appreciate a response if you have the time.

      Most appreciated
      Kiki
